One of the big reasons that so many people of Jesus’ day didn’t recognize him as the Messiah, is because he didn’t come with a great deal of fanfare and earthly majesty. He came nearly unrecognizable as a poor carpenter’s son. And he suffered. Yet Isaiah foretold us that the Messiah would come as a suffering servant. People still miss recognizing Jesus today as God’s Messiah. His cross wasn’t a failure – it was his purpose for coming.
