When you think about God, what emotion or feeling comes to your heart? Dread, Fear, Guilt? Those things may be appropriate at times, but the dominate feeling that should be in our hearts before God is JOY! Yes, we are guilty of sin, but when we confess that before God, he is quick to forgive. Then what? All that is left is the spirit of joy, expressed in praise and thanksgiving. Is it possible that one reason the church today may be less than attractive to the world is because we don’t live in joy inexpressible in our devotion to God? I think one reason we don’t exhibit that much joy is because we really don’t know our story – or better – God’s story with us. When we really know our story with God, we can’t help but celebrate with JOY!
